Red Mole was an experimental theatre troop which was active from the 1970s-2000s in New Zealand and later New York. The group's provocative performances explored countercultural ideas and provided political commentary. Red Mole: A Romance is a film by Annie Goldson which explores the history and legacy of this group, told through archival material and interviews with past members, in an emotionally gripping way. You can read more about Red Mole: A Romance on the New Zealand International Film Festival website.
My small contribution to this extensive production was to record an extract of Stravinsky's Circus Polka (for a Young Elephant). This piece was once used as part of a Red Mole performance, so I was contacted to record an extract to use as part of the film's soundtrack. I recorded this on my home piano.
